Prepare an SVG laser job with LumenCut
Check dimensions, layers and toolpaths before exporting a laser project from your Mac.
Start with the artwork and the machine
LumenCut is a design and job-preparation app from Codestripes LLC for macOS 14 or later.
Before preparing output, identify your controller, firmware, connection and usable bed dimensions. Direct streaming supports compatible GRBL controllers over serial, TCP or WebSocket. Ruida/DSP and stock non-GRBL controllers are not supported for direct streaming. A familiar machine name alone does not establish compatibility.
Import and check the scale
Import your SVG and compare its displayed dimensions with a known dimension in the design. Check its placement against the design bed before arranging multiple copies. This catches scale or positioning problems before they become output problems.
Separate artwork into layers for the operations you intend to perform. Review each layer's speed, power and passes, and check whether its vector or image mode fits the artwork. Material-library settings are starting points: they still need testing for your own material and machine.
Use Job Check and inspect the preview
Open Job Check in Preview. It can flag artwork outside the bed, open fill paths, zero output power and incompatible vector/image layer modes. Review the report and correct relevant issues before proceeding. Copy the report if you want to keep it with your project notes.
Play or scrub the generated toolpath and inspect its travel, job size and estimated duration. These are preparation tools, not certification of material suitability or machine safety. A clean report does not replace checking the physical setup.
Keep output and design review separate
G-code export and job streaming are Pro features. Confirm the output settings for the actual controller before exporting or sending a job, and preserve the original artwork alongside the project.
The optional cloud assistant can edit designs and explain job checks after you consent to cloud processing. It requires internet access, has usage limits and does not operate the laser. You remain responsible for reviewing the design and output.
